报告简介:

Recent progress in astrophysics and observational cosmology has opened a new window for us to understand the fundamental laws of Nature. In this talk, I will show how the modern observables - from radio interferometry and galaxy rotation curves to neutron star X-ray observations - are providing unprecedented insights into the nature of dark matter and the Strong CP Problem. Finally, I will highlight how intuitions developed in traditional experiment setups - including atomic, nuclear, and neutrino physics - can be transferred to reveal novel astrophysical detection strategies in the ongoing quest for new physics.

报告人简介:

Chen Sun is currently an Associate Scientist at HIAS-UCAS. Chen received his PhD from Virginia Tech, under the supervision of Tatsu Takeuchi. He then has worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Tel Aviv University, Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP Trieste), before joining HIAS-UCAS in 2026. As a theorist, he works at the intersection of cosmology, astrophysics, and high energy physics, with a focus on wave-like new physics beyond the standard model of elementary particle physics (including axion, dark photon, ultralight dark matter) and their imprints in cosmological and astrophysical channels.
