报告简介

Direct detection experiments can probe relatively low-mass dark matter (DM) by measuring electron recoil signals from DM-electron scattering. In this talk, I will present an improved theoretical framework we have recently developed for analyzing dark matter-bound electron scattering within the context of effective field theories.Considering the most general DM-electron nonrelativistic or relativistic interactions, with DM spin 0, 1/2, or 1, the scattering event rate in our formalism decomposes into a sum of three terms. Each term factorizes into a DM response function and a generalized atomic response function, with no cross-dependence between DM properties and atomic effects. I will also point out several issues in the previous literature concerning the vector form factor. Finally, I will illustrate how to map experimental data onto constraints on various effective interactions.

Xiao-Dong Ma received his PhD from Nankai University in 2019. He then conducted postdoctoral research at the National Taiwan University from 2019 to 2021, followed by additional postdoctoral research at the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute. In 2023, He joined the Institute of Quantum Matter at South China Normal University as an associate researcher. His research focuses on effective field theories, dark matter physics, and rare or forbidden processes, including flavor anomalies and baryon/lepton number-violating decays, etc.
