报告简介:
The FNAL muon g-2 experiment has measured the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon with an unprecedented precision of 127 ppb [1]. In parallel, significant theoretical efforts are underway to predict the Standard Model (SM) value of muon g-2 with comparable precision [2]. A new experiment aiming to simultaneously measure the muon g-2 and electric dipole moment (EDM), using the world’s first muon LINAC[3], and a compact storage magnet is being prepared at the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) [4]. The J-PARC experiment will provide an independent determination of muon g-2 with largely different systematics and will search for the muon EDM with a sensitivity 70 times greater than the current limit. This seminar will present the current status of the experiment and the prospects for achieving a precision surpassing that of the FNAL measurement.

报告人简介:
Prof. Tsutomu Mibe is a distinguished scholar in the field of experimental particle physics, with a long-standing commitment to precision measurements of the muon anomalous magnetic moment and electric dipole moment. He received his Ph.D. in physics from Osaka University in 2004 and currently serves as Deputy Director of the International Center for Quantum-field Measurement Systems for Studies of the Universe and Particles (QUP) at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), while also holding professorships at the University of Tokyo and the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI). Prof. Mibe is the first spokesperson of the J-PARC muon g−2/EDM experiment, and since 2009 he has led the overall design, technological development, and international collaboration of the experiment, promoting the development of innovative technologies such as ultracold muon beams. He has headed multiple large-scale national research projects in Japan, including receiving funding as principal investigator for a Grant-in-Aid for Specially Promoted Research (636 million JPY) and a Grant-in-Aid for International Leading Research (680 million JPY). In recognition of his outstanding contributions to research on muonium production targets for ultra-cold muon beams, he was awarded the Nishikawa Prize by the Foundation for High Energy Accelerator Science in 2015. In addition, Prof. Mibe holds important leadership positions in the international physics community, serving as a member of the steering committee of the Muon g−2 Theory Initiative and chairing numerous academic conferences aimed at strengthening international exchange in muon and neutron science.
