报告简介:

Aerogel is unique porous material with tuneable bulk density, which can defined at the production stage. For the first time aerogel was proposed by Samuel Stephens Kistler in 1931. Since that time many various applications for aerogels were founded. One of them is in the particle physics experiments. In Novosibirsk aerogel production was established in 1986 by close cooperation between Boreskov Institute of Catalysis and Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics. The major feature of the aerogels produced in Novosibirsk is their high transparency. Due to this circumstance it could be used as a Cherenkov radiator with refractive indexes from n=1.004 to n=1.13, which allow us to provide particle identification in momenta range from hundreds of MeV/c to several tens of GeV/c.

Brief history and overview of the Novosibirsk aerogel based projects are presented. Status and perspectives of current aerogel R&Ds in Novosibirsk for future High Energy Physics (HEP) projects are given. Some peculiarities of aerogel production and tooling processes in Novosibirsk are discussed. Main techniques for aerogel characterisation exploited at the BINP are described as well. Proposal of R&Ds on aerogel use for muonium production will be discussed.

报告人简介:

Alexander Barnyakov graduated from Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU), Physics-Technical Department in 2003. Since then, he has been working at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (BINP), where he obtained his PhD degree in 2015. He is also a docent at the Physics-Technical Department of NSTU, where he has been delivering lectures and conducting seminars on "Experimental Methods of Nuclear Physics" for Master of Science students since 2016.

Currently, he leads a team working on R&D of RICH detectors based on the Focusing Aerogel radiator (FARICH). This technique is now being considered for particle identification systems in several high-energy physics experiments: the Super Charm Tau Factory (an electron-positron collider with ultimately high interaction intensity in the energy range of 3–7 GeV, Russia), the SPD (Spin Physics Detector) experiment at NICA (Nuclotron-based Ion Collider fAcility at JINR, Dubna), and the SPASCHARM experiment upgrade at the accelerating complex U-70 (IHEP, Protvino).

Alexander Barnyakov also has extensive experience in photon detection techniques, microchannel plate (MCP)-based devices, and the application of silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) in high-energy physics experiments. He also has some experience with fast scintillation crystals (such as LYSO) for time-of-flight techniques with picosecond time resolution. He leads a project on developing position-sensitive MCP PMTs in Novosibirsk.

Throughout his professional career, Alexander Barnyakov has also conducted research at various scientific centers, including SLAC (USA), DESY (Germany), LNF-INFN (Frascati, Italy), and CERN (Switzerland).
